Dr Adrian Sartoretto BMedSc MBBS FRACP
Gastroenterologist and Bariatric Endoscopist
Dr Adrian Sartoretto is a Consultant Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist with a subspecialty interest in Bariatric Endoscopy. He completed his studies at the University of Sydney in 2007 and undertook specialist physician training at Westmead Hospital before completing an Endoscopy Fellowship at Concord Repatriation General Hospital in 2015.
He joined The BMI Clinic in 2016 and took on a leadership role, greatly expanding the multidisciplinary team and developing a unique, comprehensive lifestyle programme to complement bariatric endoscopic interventions. One of the defining achievements has been the development of the world-first weight management programme, BMI Active, which allows real-time weight monitoring of all patients to enable proactive management and enhanced weight loss results.
Dr Sartoretto has achieved a number of Australian firsts, including:
- the Australian first Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) in October of 2016
- the Australian and New Zealand first cases of Aspire Assist in 2017 and 2018
Dr Sartoretto is a proctor and consultant to Apollo Endosurgery, and is regularly called upon to teach these new techniques to surgeons and physicians from across Australia and the world. Recognised as being a leader in this field, he contributes regularly to research and is an investigator in a number of clinical trials examining novel devices and therapies in the emerging field of bariatric endoscopy.
Dr Sartoretto is the Medical Director of The BMI Clinic, and is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our suite of weight loss programs. He also maintains Medical Director positions with The Infusion Clinic and The Australian Breath Analysis Laboratory, as well as a teaching position in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney.
Dr Sartoretto has private rooms in Double Bay, Randwick and Liverpool. He performs private endoscopic procedures at Central Sydney Private Hospital and Liverpool Day Surgery.
